About Josiah

Josiah is a furniture maker and artist based in Southern California.

After teaching Spanish for nine years (and briefly woodshop), Josiah committed to his dream of designing and building handcrafted furniture. He now works out of a small shop in Saticoy, a community east of Ventura where he was raised.

Since beginning his journey as a professional woodworker, Josiah has worked with other local woodworkers to found the Ventura Woodworking Guild, and has partnered with local nonprofits and businesses to fundraise and display work.

About the work

Josiah's furniture is built to last, using old-world joinery techniques and emphasizing quality craftsmanship. Explore the pieces in his collection on the Furniture Collection page.

Josiah's Nichos and sculptural work are designed with user participation in mind.  His work integrates into the homes and lives of the people who use his nichos as home altars.

His pieces explore multi-culturalism, bilingualism, hope, despair, and spirituality.
