Mounting a Nicho Onto Drywall

Understand the task:

  1. Use the photos above as a reference to familiarize yourself with how the nicho should be hung on the wall.

  2. Notice that the wall cleat (also called a French Cleat) catches the lip mounted on the back of the cabinet.

    1. Please take special care to ensure that the cleat is mounted properly.

    2. If you don’t feel confident that you can hang the nicho correctly, reach out to a local professional who can assist you.

Determine location:

  1. Hold the nicho where you would like it on the wall

  2. Have another person mark the top center of the nicho on the wall using a pencil or chalk.

Mount French Cleat Bracket:

  1. Measure approximately 2.25” down from the top center mark you made on the wall.

  2. If your location is on a stud, you can pre-drill and screw the french cleat directly into that location.

  3. If your location is not on a stud, use a ¼” drill bit to drill a hole in the drywall.

    1. Insert the plastic wall anchor into the hole and lightly tap the rim with a hammer so that it seats flush against the wall.

    2. Screw the provided screw through the French Cleat and into the anchor.

Hanging the Nicho:

  1. Check that the wall bracket is level by placing a small level on top of the cleat and adjust as necessary.

  2. Hang the nicho by lifting it above the wall cleat, with the back of the cabinet resting against the wall. Slowly lower the nicho down, only removing your hands when you are confident that the lip of the wall cleat has engaged with the lip on the back of the cabinet.

You’re done! Woohoo!
