WInged Fruit Stand

Date: July 2020

Materials: poplar, milk paint, paste wax
Like most of my work, this piece moves between its utilitarian function and its aesthetic form. The inspiration for this shelf was born out of our abundance of fruit in the summer as Leann brings in her bountiful harvests from around the garden and orchard. During July and August, our counters are full of extra fruit waiting to be eaten, given away, or preserved. Looking to solve that problem and explore winged forms further, I landed on this design. The marigold yellow milk paint carries the hopefulness present throughout my work.
